It’s Christmas. 2017 is almost history, and what a busy year it’s been! I quit an unsatisfying job and took a minor sabbatical. A lot of old stuff was deleted, sold, thrown out, or upgraded. December’s me is certainly not the same as the one in January. 2017 was the year in which humanity manoeuvred itself into a situation where our lives depend on the wisdom of Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump. My mother? Let me tell you about my mother…

2017 is a year filled with anniversaries. 2017 happens to be the “incept date” of Leon Kowalski, the replicant in the original Blade Runner movie from 1982. This year is also the one where fans would finally be treated to the unnecessary sequel, Blade Runner 2049. Furthermore, 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of my mother’s passing.
