Congratulations go towards soon-to-be-18 Ashley Young, our 7500th caller!

Apologies for the apparent down-time on Tuesday and early Wednesday, but that was due to Telkom, in their infinite wisdom, accidentally suspending both my phone lines.
An aggressive phone call later, and we’re back on line.

Take note of New Free File Area 500 (Thumbnails): It includes a selection of thumbnails of just about all GIF/JPG images you’re bound to find on the BBS sorted in natural order of disk. For once, this BBS can compete with the internet as far as previews are concerned! Download the lot, take a look at the thumbnail and then select the actual image that you’re perving for.
For those of you who listen to Highveld Stereo at two in the morning, you might want to listen out as this maniac’s going to be on Kevin Lee’s show on Monday morning. Who knows what we’ll get up to?
Enjoy!

After a far too long absence of 6½ months, I have the pleasure to declare the HMVH Corporation BBS back on line. The BBS wasn’t the only thing to go dying on me, quite a bit has changed in my life since I last made any sort of announcement… it’s been a tumultuous six months, I’d say!
Other than a new domicile, a new office and, most importantly, new phone lines there have been a few modest changes to the BBS itself by way of additional files and areas, more lenient security levels and a CD-ROM.
Furthermore, Free Area 500 (THUMBNAILS) includes a very varied ensemble of JPG files, compiled and sorted in no method other than actual disk order. No, this little BBS is in no way attempting to compete with the mighty internet… I think we just complement it.
Enjoy!
Greetings…
It is with deep regret and almost a tear in my eye that I must announce the unfortunate demise of the HMVH Corporation BBS.
Things (my short temper included :) were somewhat aggravated after a few key hardware components decided to give up the ghost, adding to my continuing dissatisfaction with a less than useful telephone line.
Ironically enough, this all happened while I was adding about 50 megs worth of new material…
But, do not despair, this is only a TEMPORARY setback as I have every intention of getting the BBS back on line again within the next few months after I have moved to another residence and over to a brand new machine. As far as is possible, I will keep the poor old machine on a minimal life support system before its next re-birth, ie. it’ll be bigger and better when it returns!
To my loyal users I extend by apologies for this temporary hickup, this is by no means the end of HMVH. ‘Subscribers’, your membership will obviously be extended by the period the BBS is offline.
See ya!

Not that anyone will get to read this bulletin, but the BBS has again had to succumb to hardware failure. It shall remain down for quite some time.

Seems like the new modem and this line don’t get along well at all, so I’ve decided to re-install the USR 28800 again to see how things develop.
A new file viewer has also been installed: Hit [V] in the File Menu and try it out!
And, the 15th of December marked our second full year online.
Year number three will hopefully be much more successful!

Apologies for the BBS being unavailable over the last few days, but we’ve suffered from a SysOp’s greatest dilemma: Faulty modem.
The USR was only temporarily re-installed, a 33.6kbps now delivers the throughput. How well it delivers, though, is fairly debatable since it’s quite clear that connections at home are not at all successful, and I can’t exactly leave the BBS at work all the time now, can I!
Sincerest apologies :(
