Review: 2017
It’s Christmas. 2017 is almost history, and what a busy year it’s been! I quit an unsatisfying job and took a minor sabbatical. A lot of old stuff was deleted, sold, thrown out, or upgraded. December’s me is certainly not the same as the one in January. 2017 was the year in which humanity manoeuvred itself into a situation where our lives depend on the wisdom of Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump. Continue reading
Rewind: 2016
2016 is one of those years that shouldn’t have been. It’s a leap year we could rather have skipped over entirely. The world changed for the worse. Quite frankly, 2016 can fuck right off and die. A few glimmers of hope aside, it was wrought with death, shocks, disappointments and technical failures. Even circumstances at work are getting progressively intolerable. Continue reading

Rewind: 2015
What an eventful year. Marred by the wilful decimation of fellow human beings, this year has once again shown how adept the human race is at causing its own demise. We love harming one another. France was a particularly popular place for getting executed by people of Arab origin who take their religious beliefs way too seriously. Continue reading
The Computer Faire & BEXA
While not nearly in the same league as its overseas counterparts, COMDEX, CeBIT, CES or IFA, the annual “Computer Faire” was a key South African exhibition for those interested in IT/computer technology and office automation. It was the largest event of its kind in the southern hemisphere. This page showcases their most interesting and historically relevant content. Continue reading

Rewind: 2014
2014 was a strenuous year. In fact, it was a terrifying year. 2015 must hurry up and get here. Continue reading
Rewind: 2013
What a strange year it’s been. Much happened. Nelson Mandela passed away in December at the age of 95. David Cameron and Barack Obama used the opportunity to pose for a selfie with the Danish Prime Minister. The revelations elevated Mr. Snowden to the status of a hero in the eyes of most… Continue reading

Rewind: 2012
If you’re reading this, you might have noticed that the world didn’t end on 21-12-2012 as supposedly forecast by the Mayans. Our little blue marble continues to spin and orbit around the sun. All the hype was for nothing, as was the fearmongering about the possible black hole caused by firing up the Large Hadron Collider. Continue reading

My Ravaged Ears: The Sequel
For me, personally, digging through and cataloguing second-hand recordings is an immensely gratifying task, and there must be scores of such treasures that, during their glory days, were proudly displayed in tape cabinets or fancy shelves. Today, these remnants are hidden away in the back of a drawer, stuck in a box under the bed or simply gather dust in the basement. Continue reading
